In recent years, the concept of "work-life balance" has gained prominence and remains a popular topic as more people discuss its importance. However, many people tend to be overly focused on work-life balance unnecessarily.
It is strange to see or hear a twenty-something-year-old crying over work-life balance.
When you are in your twenties, with no major commitments like starting a family, there is no need to focus on work-life balance. Your career or business is what should consume most of your time as you aim to build it.
One can claim they want to achieve A & B by a certain time, yet they refrain from putting in the work required to achieve the outcomes they desire.
Seeing a twenty-four-year-old crying over work-life balance signals that person's weakness and somewhat laziness.
The advantage that a twenty-year-old has over the elders in his or her workplace is time. The time to put in the hours that the elders do not have. And that alone can easily fact-track their experience at what they do, and subsequently fast-track their desired career prospects.
The work-life balance concept that fills everyone's mouth in corporate and business in modern days denies young people such an opportunity to be exploited, to their advantage.
A person cries over their time, but when you look at what they do with their time, it is all unproductive and fruitless stuff. Of course, one needs to have the time and space to cool off and do the tasks they enjoy. But if you would reject an opportunity to learn and harness your skill further just so you can play your favourite video game for five hours is bleak.
To cry over work-life balance so you do fruitless activities, is a sign of weakness.
Life generally favours those who put in the effort in acquiring that which they wish for, going the extra mile that others are not willing to.
In business, the one that succeeds over their competition are those that do the extraordinary tasks, including putting in more hours than the rest. While others take time off to go mountain climbing, focus on your business and capitalise on their time off.
Those who succeed in their older years start building while their peers are still playing. With their time.
Crying over work-life balance when you are not living the life you want can only mean one thing: you are not serious enough about having it.
