For most people, determining whether they are more intelligent than the average person means taking tests whose results will determine their scores, thus proving whether they are more intelligent than average or they are just average.
This stems from our schooling, where the more you get good grades on tests and exams, the more you are perceived as intelligent. But that is not always the case.
You can determine whether you or someone else is intelligent or not through their innate attributes and behaviours, without using technical tests like the IQ tests.
You may be wondering how intelligent you are in comparison to those around you, but not know how to see that. And at times, most people unconsciously display behaviours and habits of highly intelligent individuals without them knowing that those habits can only be displayed by those with a higher IQ.
So, to make things simpler. I have compiled a list of 10 habits that can reveal you have a high IQ even when you don't feel like you do.
You have very few close friends
The most intelligent people have small circles. They prefer to have a few quality relationships. They choose quality over quantity in the relationships they have with others.
You don't like small talk
Highly intelligent individuals do not enjoy small talk. It is socially acceptable, but it keeps things on the surface, which is the contrast of what they desire - deeper and meaningful conversations.
You enjoy being alone
Some people despise being by themselves. But those with high IQ actually prefer solitude instead of being with others who don't contribute anything of value to their minds.
You criticise yourself
Those with lower IQ do not like being criticised, no matter how constructive the criticism is, let alone criticising themselves. Those who are highly intelligent, self-introspect without being prompted to do so; they analyse and criticise themselves for the errors and flaws they commit.
You talk to yourself
Mumbling to yourself may make you seem crazy, but in reality, it's often a sign of higher thinking, memory, and perception skills.
You are inquisitive
Highly intelligent people have a natural curiosity about the world around them. They always ask questions. They actively seek knowledge and are eager to learn new things.
You are very sarcastic
Sarcasm requires the use of several parts of the brain at once. Intelligent people are good with language; they use a play of words and use figures of speech in their day-to-day conversations. They are good at intellectual multitasking, which is not an easy activity for most people.
You Embrace Failure
While most people despise failure, highly intelligent individuals view failure as an opportunity for growth. They are resilient and always use setbacks as an amplifier for what they aim to achieve.
You obsess over patterns
Intelligent individuals are pattern hunters. They look for patterns in all things, including people's behaviour. Their brain automatically looks for connections that others miss. That’s why they can predict outcomes before they even happen.
You daydream
Daydreaming has a bad rep, but it's in fact a state of being able to utilise your brain and memory. It allows your thoughts to flow freely, enabling you to gather and organise them into a structured whole.
Without using IQ tests to determine how intelligent you are, these are some of the behaviours and habits that can easily signify that you may be more intelligent than an average person.
So, even if you may not feel it, a high IQ shows itself in other ways. If you easily and unconsciously exhibit most of the behaviours and habits listed on this list, you are more intelligent than the average person.
