To Get What You Want Out of Life, Stop Asking and Do This Instead...

Many of us pray to get what we need. But our prayers are an all-about-asking exercise. This is how we have been accustomed to - that when you need something, ask for it, you shall be given, as the bible verse, Matthew 7:7-8 says, "ask and you shall be given".

We have ambitions, dreams, and desires that we all know we can achieve by working towards them, plus praying - asking for them to become true and a reality.

But because we blindly and overly believe that "ask and you shall be given", we solely focus on asking. That is where the flaw lies in how we obtain what we want or need.

There's nothing wrong with asking, but we also need to be thankful. That is the distinct difference between those who seem to always get what they want and those who seemingly do not get what they want easily.

We tend to forget to be grateful for what we have and keep on asking for more without realising that we actually have what we were praying for just a few years ago, at times.

As I am charting through the murky waters of life, it eventually dawned on me that, no man, I am actually living the life I used to pray for. A simple basic life, yet I kept on asking for more and more without being grateful for what I have already been blessed with.

Obviously, as we grow, we aim to improve our quality of life, and that requires us to receive more.

But I then changed my prayers from being a beggar to being a thankful fellow. I started to see some positive changes that I needed at the time. From thereon, I completely changed how I pray to this day.

Many keep on asking for blessings every day without first acknowledging the blessings they already have. They fail to see what they already have as blessings to be thankful for.

For example, being healthy is a blessing to be grateful for, having a loving family, having a roof over your head, having clothes, etc. All those are blessings we ought to be thankful for instead of not acknowledging them and continuing to demand more.

Of course, we need more to improve our quality of life, hence we ask, but the principle is to look back and see how far you've come and where you are, you will realise all the things you actually have to be grateful for.

Logically, you will also be reluctant to provide someone with what they ask if they are not appreciative of what you have already given them. Yet you expect God (or whoever you believe in) to keep on providing.

So, no matter what you may desire, refrain from being a religious beggar and start to be thankful and appreciative of what you have. No matter how little it may seem, it is something to be thankful for. From thereon, then you, "ask and you shall be given" as Matthew 7:7-8 says.

This is the heck many do not know. If you never knew this, implement it today. You will begin having a positive outlook on life, and therefore, you will have more positive emotions, thoughts, and behaviours that will eventually align with what you desire.

Next time you pray, try to stop asking for things and only be grateful and appreciative for the life and everything you already have. Then watch how you will miraculously receive what you want.
